Digital Baby Sign

I wanted to share this nifty idea!

A friend saw a sign on Etsy that a new mom or dad hangs on their hospital wall.  The retail was almost $20!  NO WAY would I let her pay that price AND I knew I could do better. :)

So, I went to town in My Digital Studio software.  She picked the colors and design.  Her take-home baby outfit is  argyle sweater so I recreated the pattern.

This is not the exact finished project but shows the cute ARGYLE plaid I made to match the baby's outfit.

I plan to attach a thin piece of recycled cardboard to the back and use matching ribbon for her to hang it. I also included their last name on the sign but removed it here.  The cardboard is thin so it can be placed it a scrapbook later but still heavy enough for the sign to hang well.

Also, the parents can fill in the final details with marker.  The best part, I can send her this file and she could type-in the details post-birth and print  final copy for the scrapbook!

I'm not posting the finished project yet - the mom-to-be may read this and I want it to arrive on her doorstep first!  (She has seen the digital file.)

I'll try to share the final project in my newsletter, please subscribe.

KatTip:  That Argyle - love it?  want it?  It's a square punch turned about 45 degree angle, the lines are created with the square punch resized to be long and narrow.  The flourishes are stamps just strategically placed.

The pattern was relatively easy but I thought I'd share it here without my watermark so you can use it too!  Add as a photo and it can be resized.

I have a few friends expecting baby girls - I hope to make them each a sign too.  I'll share those when completed.
